Feminist Health Care Research Group (Julia Bonn/Inga Zimprich) is happy to announce its digital archive on practices of the Health Movement.
The Health Movement organized the dissatisfaction of those working professionally within the health care system as well as of those receiving health care as clients and patients. It emerged during the late 70s and 80s in West-Germany at the intersection of second wave feminism and the squatting scene. Working across the doctor/patient divide the movement exerted pressure on the health care system from without and within: It voiced criticism, lead protests, proposed new working forms, published leaflets, organized self-help groups, opened up alternative health centers and experimented with new formats of counseling.

We understand this online archive as a collection of examples, methods and proposals how to politically engage with the health care system. On www.radicalhealthcare.org we will present documents, interviews and practices. We accompany these materials with worksheets, podcasts, and prompts that help us to engage further with our own experiences of health care, illness, wellbeing and crises. We wish to create an accessible resource that encourages us to     ◯ value our own experiences of illness and crises
◯ acknowledge our expertise as users of health care
◯ embrace ways of supporting each other
